With 10th looming, let's take a look at gaming in the other end of the financial spectrum…

Great Game – and the forerunner Killzone was good too. I ought to get it out and have another game!

Good times. Good times.

"and the forerunner Killzone"

If I'd gotten a look at the Combat Zone rules beforehand way back when, I would have saved myself $40 USD by not buying it (as the rules are pretty much Killzone, which I also owned at the time…)
YMMV

Killzone was a squad based (funnily enough, I used it for a quick game last week – a 1920s Prohibition Agents game). Combat Zone was much more individually based. About 10 years ago, I played the same scenario first with Kill Zone then with Combat Zone. Two very different games.

Need to dig that out.

Wow, I had no idea about the expansions and Chronicles – will be checking these out. Cheers guys, glad this little game garnered a decent following, it deserves it!

I have both, and liked Killzone better. The Combat Zone figures are still available from EM-4.

I've often wondered what the story behind Combat Zone was. Was it a Grenadier project that got picked up by someone else? Why did they go with the terrible arms for the otherwise decent figures? Why clutter up Kill Zone's quite decent rules?

I ran Combat Zone several times. Huge game once. Zombie outbreak, Predator, gangs, cops, Special Unit 2 and more. Great fun. I am a fan of Killzone but didnt get them until later.

Thanks

John

IIRC Killzone was put together to support Nic Lund's SF sculpts for Grenadier.

I've also got both – I played Killzone more. But then I had it first…

I think Combat Zone was put together to be a WH40K like complete package in a box – but those figures were a pain to put together.

I'm pretty sure I met with the originator of Combat Zone a long time ago – maybe at an old (Kensington Town Hall) Salute when it was brand new. IIRC it was a private venture that was later picked up by EM-4.

I reckon I must have had Kill Zone ASAP sprog but damned if I can track it down online- anyone got any links to throw my way?
