Last weekend we ran a rather big game at Salute, the battle of Ipsus 301 BCE. Excessive numbers of miniatures were slaughtered, and much fun was had by all!

Absolutely magnificent Simon, nobody gives us the megalithic scale eye candy like you do. Always an inspiration.

That is an amazing looking game. The pikes alone are incredible!

Truly epic. A cast of thousands. Beautiful.

Oh, my. The pikes!

Nice! 3000 figures, ~1500 pike. I'm feeling a bit inadequate having only 144x Successor pikemen painted, but impressed none-the-less.

Simon, you are the master of epic spectacle! De Mille and Kubrick would be proud.

Truly an impressive spectacle, but obviously beyond the reach of most gamers – and what was it like as game? Successor clashes often don't leave much scope for manoeuvre or battlefield subtlety.

Thanks everyone! Was a super day at Salute.

beyond the reach of most gamers – and what was it like as game?

Yes it is beyond the reach of most gamers, which is all the more reason to do it, so we can see what it looks like. It played pretty well- much as in the battle accounts- the players had fun.

Next year I'll give some more thought about what to do next, I'm minded to look at Gabiene and Paraetacene.
