I plan to run a Chinese PLAN vs US Navy scenario at Historicon this year. It will be on the Friday morning and will be for four experienced Harpoon V players. A knowledge of the latest Chinese and American technology would be a plus, but is not required. I will give an overview of the capabilities at the start of the game.
The scenario details are: "The Chinese PLAN has been conducting a port visit on the east coast of Africa, the first major foreign port visit of 2024. Three ships, the Wuxi (Type 55), the Zhoushan (Type 54A) and a support vessel Type 903 Fuchi Class are in port. The USS Winston S Churchill and the USS Chafee (both Arleigh Burkes Flight IIAs) have been conducting anti-piracy operations in the region.
About 4500 miles away, conflict has just broken out over the Straits of Taiwan. The US and China are at war". The scenario is a primarily a surface action between the very latest ships that both sides have. There will be helicopters and drones available to both sides for additional detection capabilities. Hopefully the scenario will be of interest to players in this group. I have not seen too many scenarios explore this technolgy. If the scenario is successful I may consider doing a write up for a SITREP. |

I won't be there, but I'm extremely glad that's happening. Definitely do some kind of write up. That would be a convention highlight for me. We need a way to televise these things. |

I'll be at Historicon. My knowledge of Harpoon isn't good enough to participate but I'll be watching. |

DaleWill, Thanks, as it will be my first time running a Harpoon V game at a major convention and the rules are a bit complex to say the least, I really need players who know the rules. However, if you come along please introduce yourself and I will do my best to keep you informed of what is going on. |
