In UK, Just having a sniff around Ebay. What on Earth is going on with US postage? To UK, more expensive than the item… and item NOT cheap! Canada, Japan… not as cheap as used to be… but MUCH less than US. Europe also more expensive than should be, considering distances.
USA and Canada about equal distance… but Canada nearly 1/2 as much postage! And Japan is on the other side of the World!

It is the same in the US. I have cancelled multiple orders from the UK once the cost of postage was factored in.

Yep- it's high. It keepsgett9ing higher. They've done away with any "slow and cheap" rates. Some, like me, say it is becasue the powers that be want to run the Post Office out of business so private companies can run the market as they wish, and make lots of money. Some people that have watched changes int he USPS for many years say that claim appears to be true. Some say it is because the US did not agree to some international postal agreements- which is a political decision, made by politicians, for whatever reason.

I can buy something from China, and have it shipped to the US cheaper than I can buy things down the street, in person. Something is wrong.

Postal rates will increase in July. First class stamps up to 66 cents each. I'm sure package rates will increase also soon after.

Free shipping in two days is my expectation.

Unfortunately the small guys don't have their own distribution network so it's 1 week and $10. USD What I hate is percentage shipping on International orders. I ended up getting a UK reshipper which has proved useful even beyond GW arbitrage.

I'd say have patience, and never attribute to long-term political planning what can be accounted for by blithering incompetence. The US has a history of trying to bluster its way through international postal agreements. I think what happened was that we no longer have the clout to defy the rules. And the lower rates were to a degree subsidized. Might look at this:

Meanwhile, prices are up a third at Half Price Books, and worse at Arby's, but it's not a plot by either Barnes & Noble or McDonald's--just lots and lots of dollars without an increase in stuff to buy.

Big orders are usually your friend.

Mr Elmo, if you keep buying wargame stuff from Amazon, don't whine here when the specialty shops fold. People will remember.

I think on ebay people are selling $25 USD items with $125 USD shipping to avoid the reporting requirements of $600 USD annual sales.

I saw that on several items yesterday that should have been about $125 USD with $25 USD shipping.

I suspect that won't last long.

I think we've been down this discussion before, but has shipping affected UK miniature manufacturers sales to the US? The thought of ordering 28mm metal from the UK scares me! Even smaller scales like 10mm and 15mm because I wind up buying more of them. :-(

Then there is the rise of 3D printing, which seems to be heavily targeting 6mm and 10mm for Epic40K and Warmaster. Plus tons of 28mm GW knockoffs. Has 3D printing affected sales? (Perhaps that is another discussion. It has been on my mind.) There is no need for international shipping there.

Canada doesn't even put the price on stamps anymore, so I have no clue what it costs to send a card. Parcel postage within Canada is brutal and to ship internationally is out of the question. I placed 2 orders on Sunday to 2 UK companies but only because they had a No Salute Sale with free shipping on 30 GBP and the other was free shipping. Otherwise I would not have ordered…

Heedless Horseman Supporting Member of TMP25 Apr 2023 5:52 a.m. PST

Within UK, postage is climbing… privatisation… and forced introduction of foreign owned competition… to drive prices DOWN? LOL!
We also have 'import tax' on foreign items of £15.00 GBP+…not much… but Post Office charges £8.00 GBP to collect.
Goods from USA, prohibitive.
Canada… Ebay sellers much cheaper items and better for postage than USA… still, very glad that I do not really 'need' anything!
Incidentally, believe UK problem with overseas mail due to 'hack'… and pay dispute… settled, AFAIK.

Pendraken is available (most items) from Dark Horse Hobbies in the USA with free shipping on orders over $50.00 USD USD. They just received their restocks on ECW, WOR and dark ages. They have been trying to expand into more periods while restocking. Great to do business with. I am a satisfied customer for the past 5 years!
