Need a cheap source for 6mm air support, space shuttle craft or star fighters? The toy section of Amazon has these. 72+ ships for 10 bucks. link |

I got something similar off ebay years ago (8ish). They were parts for some board game but I got 20 or so of 8 different types. Painted up the saucers like '50s aliens and they scale well enough with 6mm; eventually p51s and p47s will take on the invaders, just need to find some rules. |

per eBay: "Material Cotton" Huh? One of the reviews says: "They are cast in a soft rubber." Rubber is certainly better material for this than cotton! |

I have these (somewhere in a box after the move). They are made from a soft rubber, not sure how (if?) they paint. |

They take paint just fine. I primed mine normally with Gesso then gave it a bit of paint (just testing the color scheme here)

I bought a similar set of (HDPE?) injection molded plastic space ships off of Amazon, several years ago. Mine are similar in size, vaguely similar in style and variety. I spray primed them white. They painted OK, but my painting skills are not centered around space ships. The plastic toys are fine, my space ship painting skills are… Other. Cheers! |

Yes, they are soft rubber. I have a bag somewhere. Haven't attempted to paint them. But they are very thick, so bending is unlikely, which is what would remove any paint. As spacecraft, to me the styles work as fighters or shuttles or at the most smaller craft, but it's up to the interpretation of the viewer. IIRC there are at least 7 different shapes, equally occurring in multiple quantities in the package. At one time they were sold by US Toy, along with some over-sized copies of spacefighter craft from the Silent Death minis game. Don't know if they're still carried by them. (You can also check with Oriental Traders, as their stock sometimes overlaps with US Toy.) IIRC my bag from US Toy contained 144 craft, but that was over a decade ago. |

@HMS Exeter: I am not good at math, but I think that 96 + 72 = too many ships for me! @Extra Crispy: Thanks for the picture and comments on painting. |

I bought the same bay a couple years ago. They held paint a lot better than I was expecting. Not altogether useless. |

@zircher At least a couple are from the Message from Space movie. I was going to suggest old Silent Death sprues, but both EM4 and Metal Express seem truly out, and the single source I saw on eBay was a WEE more dear. That said, I'd a friend that used camo-painted Spirit Riders for close support in Dirtside II. Tiny wings of death… Glorious! Doug |
