So the Battletech kickstarter has broken 6 million proving there IS a sucker born every minute. What does one get for this milestone?

Company backers and above receive The Mercenary Life digital short story anthology

The Heavy Battle & Sweep Lances Battlefield Support ForcePack is unlocked for pledge levels and as add- on purchase.

Nobody gives a Bleeped text about digital product and if everything is an add on, why bother? Seems like you could back for $1 USD and shop like everyone else.

I always thought kickstarter was a way for a company to raise capital to start or complete a project. I didn't release it done to offer the consumer product discounts.

raise capital to start or complete a project

Catalyst can certainly fund this project. What I see is successful kickstarters enhancing the product so cardboard becomes plastic., etc.

You'd think with 6 mil the miniatures could finally be hard plastic. Instead you can spend more money on your add ons which seem to be $30 USD more or less. The current force packs are 15-20 online so if we wait we can avoid paying MSRP from the KS.

At least the KS I'm currently backing upgraded card thickness AND it wasn't even an add on! Who'd a thunk it.

A pity they didn't tell you in advance what the stretch goals were, Mr. Elmo.

For myself, if I sign on for a Kickstarter, it's to have a viable whatever (mostly unit) at a price I'm willing to pay if the project goes at all, so the stretch goals vary between a nice bonus and completely irrelevant.

St. Peter don't you call me, cause I can't go. I sold my soul to the company store.

Company level ($150), if we assume add-on prices to be MSRP, currently gets you a minimum of $213 USD worth of miniatures product alone. $75 USD for the box, $30 USDx3 forcepacks (if you pick lances), $8 USDx6 salvage boxes (if you pick lances). That's discounting swag entirely.
(The deal gets slightly better if you choose vehicle packs, and vastly better if you switch to a higher pledge level.)

I understand if that isn't a good enough deal for you, but calling all of us suckers for backing is a bit much.

It should be noted that the current boxes have been out for years, and are still not consistently in stock. Buying from the KS likely will save a lot of waiting and hassle in trying to get exactly what you want. Maybe you consider your time worthless, but I value my own.

I like the Kickstarter and the new shiny vibe BT is enjoying right now. Ultimately if they win we will as well in the long run.
