Not sure about the historical accuracy of these commanders dressing in the highland fashion, but they 'feel' right. Three new Highland command for Montrose army link (And whilst on the subject of Montrose's army, in light of Prof. Furgol's lecture on Saturday, my Irish Brigade command needs a bit of a rejig. Need to add a strong religious component – Magister Militum's monks pack could be the answer)

That sounds very interesting – might it be published, do you know? As for whether the figures are "right" or not, given your obvious level of knowledge I am quite sure your guess is as good as any, and better than most! |

Thanks all Tim – Ed's paper certainly wet the appetite for the book. He presented some really interesting stats on the composition of Montrose's army (sweeping generalisation here- without the Irish Brigade, there wasn't really much of an army at all). He also argued, very eloquently, why Montrose was doomed to fail. |
