The artificial grass mat which I bought in Aldi last year for £6.99 GBP is back in stock at Lidl for £9.99 GBP. Size is one metre by two so that is about 3 feet by 6 feet in old money.

YouTube link

It is a green plush nylon flock intended for outdoor use as artificial grass on balconies, patios, etc. The pile is about 2mm and will certainly suit any figures from 10mm upwards, maybe smaller.

It rolls with the plush outside and is heavy enough to lay flat on its own, no curling. European readers check your branches of Lidl and Aldi and see if you have it.

As with all 'middle of Lidl', once it is gone it is gone.

Bought three of these over the years. Excellent value. I sprinkled some woodlands scenic turf on mine to add a little variation in colour.

@Brennus:
As I suspected, they seem to come around annually.
I also suspect they can be cut to size very easily.
Good idea with the sprinkles.

Yes – bought my first ones about 15 years ago and had plenty of use from them. I got an extra one to cut up to make fields/parks etc.

@Granny Gates:
If you cannot find this product in the USA is there a similar one from another manufacturer?

Search 'artificial grass' or 'grass mat' on Google.

@ Darrell B D Day:
At this price you could buy two, one as a mat and one to cut up to make very thin hills. The hills would also roll up and not take up much space in transit. Think of it as a 'go anywhere' mat and hills collection.

They sell something similar here in the States at the Big Box home improvement stores under the title EcoRug, six feet by eight. I made a bunch of mats a while back, they hold up very well. link

Got mine last year very good

@Barry. Yes indeed. As I said, I bought an extra one just for cutting up. I already had 3 for table covering. I got two different shades of green (I think one was Aldi and one was Lidl but can't be sure) which made for variety.

Be aware that my local Lidl has changed their stock and have switched to a 'hairy' type of grass in the same size for £19.99 GBP. The pile is about 10 to 12mm thick and certainly not as seen in my film.

While not a smooth mat the new version could suit for Burma or Vietnam, either as a complete mat or just cut up into sections as DBDD did with one of his (see above).
