Hi all, I have some French Napoleonics painted white with yellow facings with all figures in the unit wearing plumes. I think they were supposed to be Saxons but AFAIK the line companies didn't wear plumes.

Can anyone think of another French Allied unit they could be? I'm happy to repaint the facings but I quite like the plumes so seems a shame to snip them off.

The figures are the 1/72 Zvezda light infantry in pre-Bardin rig. My painting isn't detailed enough to worry overmuch about cuff shapes etc

Kingdom of Holland 7th Regiment? Not sure about the plumes though. Voltigeurs?

Good point, though I was thinking more 1812 to 1813 really and ideally the whole Bn with plumes. I'm wondering if one of the Confed Rhine Guard units might do.

You could leave the yellow facings and paint the coat red for Saxon Guard Grenadiers.

Although they probably didn't wear the plume on campaign:

Sticks in my mind one of the Westphalian regiments wore yellow facings early on. Plumes for a center company would be unusual, but not something I'd put past King Jerome for parade dress.

Good point shadoe, typically I already have them with Grenadier bearskins!

Not so worried about facing colour really

Italian, Naples?

You could use them as Saxon grenadiers as they did combine companies into batallions.

Further to my earlier post – in 1812 Grenadier battalion von Spiegel was formed with the grenadier companies from regiments Prinz Maximilian & Rechten – both wore yellow facings. The only difference was button colours – Max with yellow metal & Rechten with white metal.
Red plumes, cords & tassels for the shakos.

Thank you Prince of Essling, good idea to go for a Saxon Grenadier Bn.

I'm trying to figure out if the Italian Guard Velites of 1812 wore Grenadier caps or shakos, they could be another possibility with a bit of facing repainting.

@Timbo W,
Velites wore the bearskin.

You could paint them as Cacciatori of the Guard, but you would need to paint the jackets green.

Thanks Prince of E!

I was a bit too affirmative re the Velites & no shakos – they did wear the latter sometimes:
