They may not have expected to get so much backing, so are scrambling to put in stretch goals. Or they are being cheap, expecting people to back the project without shiny stretch goals. Or maybe they just didn't plan it out very well.
Oh they quite knew what they were doing and planned it quite well.
Their last KS pulled in over $2
USDmillion. That really boosted the game big time and it was an easy calculation that this would be even bigger. $5
USDmil is surprisingly large growth though, good on them. It was actuallly fascinating watching the cashometer rolling on the first day.
They know they have a very large and devoted fan base who were going to back just to get the goodies early. Stretch goals were not needed to lure them in. Runaway stretch goals can sink a giant project. They know all the headaches they ran into last time, which were significant, and did a good job of defending against that again.
As witnessed in this campaign, they don't need customers who will only back for a bargain. Those who want first crack at the goods before anything sells out in retail, plus a few perks, are the folks they're aiming at.
And they will be happy with everyone else who is willing to wait for retail to buy later. They're on a superb growth track now.
I'm not backing this one. But yay, it's great to see the game doing so well!
