Yesterday on their forum, the Strelets folks announced the tragic death in the Ukraine war of their main and sole figure designer – Anton Derbilov – of the latest new and very fine releases in their 1/72 scale plastic War of Spanish Succession series of figure sets.
He was serving in the Ukrainian Army and was apparently killed in combat Thursday or yesterday by mortar fire.
A very talented artist, designer, sculptor and musician. Now gone.

A very sad day, he designed some very good figures.

This is terrible news. My condolences go out to his family. He was truly a shining light in the industry. I will now hold dear the boxes I have collected over the years.

Sad news that puts our hobby in perspective.

That is awful – may he rest in peace.

Thanks Toby, that is tragic.

That is sad. I'd heard he had been drafted and thought about him often. He paid the last full measure of devotion and I hope it will not have been in vain. Rest now, Anton.

Dreadful news

Swampking09 Apr 2023 1:57 p.m. PST

Rest in peace, Anton.

What an incredible talent and such sad news. His sculpts brought Strelets up to incredible standards. A true loss to the plastic gaming community.

Umpapa09 Apr 2023 2:29 p.m. PST

Excellent artist he was. Great loss.

He was not drafted. He had volunteered (after RuZZians killed his son with artillery fire during evacuation of Charkiv or so I heard) to defend liberty of all of humans (including His daughters).

May the God comfort His family and and accept His soul.

"May the God comfort His family and and accept His soul."

Never said better than this.

Was just painting some Strelets this week. He was very talented and will be missed. Here's hoping for peace and better days. Thank you Anton. Rest well.

It is yet another unspeakable tragedy from this war. Particularly felt by our hobby.
What a waste.

"What a waste." All wars are. What is amazing is that he fought for what he believed in- for his family and country. What seems to be value sets that have been lost in the younger generation with few exceptions.

I was just trying to research some old Strelec*R metal fantasy sculpts and was given his name. Such an awful shock to find this. He seems to have been a wonderful character and person. The world is poorer for his loss :(
