I'm looking for suggestions of a smaller battle/engagement lasting 1-3 days. 1-2 divisions per side. Perhaps a series of 1-2 day engagements over a longer period but over the same battle area, such as the battles around Chir River. The battle area relatively compact such as at Chir River. Arras would be another example. Staying away from the desert for the moment.

I'm working on a platoon/company level of Salerno. I need a smaller area and time frame for testing things.

Are you looking for scenarios that are part of a larger battle or are you trying to game 'the whole thing'?

What Forces?
Normandy? Market Garden? These can be managed in 1-2 Divison or Regiment chunks

Game the entire thing is preferable.

My gut is telling me to look at Norway, Syria, Iraq, Burma, and Pacific Islands for smaller scale engagements that fit your needs.

Bastogne?

I should have qualified that since I am working on this as a boardgame, I want to stay away from similarly scale existing games, such as MMP's Grand Tactical System or Compass' CSS System. Race for Bastogne is fairly new, so rules that out.

My system is company-level with some platoon breakdowns possible. 750m hexes and 2-hour turns. Salerno is fairly complete with 4 maps covering 7 days of the battle.

So, I'd like something smaller as an introduction to the system. 1-3 days, and a play area of not more than 16 x 32 miles. Again, something like Arras or Chir River is ideal. I need to stay away from Pacific for the moment due to the nature of the combat I'm trying to model.

Maybe Mortain.
