I thought i'd post a quick blog post to showcase my 18mm War of 1812 United States Army

It is a nice little army. But I'd look at adding a little more artillery and not bother with any more cavalry.

The army looks great!
It's an interesting war to game, in part because the armies are small compared to those in Europe.
This looks to be early war army, before the British blockade prevented import of dyes and many units ceased to have such nice uniforms.
Unless you are thinking militia cavalry (as opposed to dragoons) I agree with epturner that one regiment is enough.

I think it is a nice looking force as well. I also agree with the other posters re cav and arty.

Looks very nice. While there was never many cavalry involved in North America, I think that it would be ok to build a militia Cavalry unit. For USA militia cavalry, I used AWI Tarleton cavalry since that fits best with uniform. You might also want to have a Kentucky/Tennessee/Western militia. I have a wide variety for my USA, there was a wide variety of uniforms.
