What subject/time period/war do you have the most books (of any kind) about, but not an accompanying miniatures force to go with them? My top three: Russian Civil War Mexican-American War French Intervention in Mexico |

This gets definitional – how finely to we periodize? – but I'd say the Late Antique (ca AD 300-630) Mediterranean. The runner up is probably WW2. |

Define as you see fit; no one's getting any federal grant money out of it. |

The biggest period for me is the ACW. Find it very intersting historically but never really found a set of rules that seems to capture the period in a way that grabs me. Happy to play Fire and Fury Regimental (or Brigade scale) but never felt the need to have figures. Old Colony Wargamers where I play also has a large number of club figures so another demotivator for personally collecting. Chris |

ACW… but I have aspirations to paint figures for it… someday… |

No doubt it is the Civil War. My PhD deals with the Civil War yet I have little interest in gaming the conflict. I have some 30 28mm Union soldiers and that is it. But I have lots of books on the war. |

FPW – love it but the scale of the battles requires V.small scale figures that lose all the romance of the period uniforms and the actual fighting was a tad one-sided – I like both sides being able to win without feeling it's an atypical result. |

Not all the battles Billy! The early battles only involved a corps or two. Wissembourg just had a French division. Lots of interesting scenarios to play out. I have done the armies in 15mm and am now purchasing the Perry figures in 28mm. Pendraken's 10mm range is also incredible. Come on. Take the plunge! |

I'd say I have two contenders: Tudor English – I have the Osprey book on Flodden and the army of Henry VIII and the Hellion book on early Tudor armies, but I don't have any minis. Torn between doing a Henrician army (Flodden, Italian Wars, Anglo Irish Wars, ) or an Elizabethan army (Rough Wooing, first 1/2 of 80 Years War, Irish 9YW), so Im not committing yet. ECW – I have maybe a half dozen Osprey books but no miniatures for specifically ECW (the TYW minis en route are specifically for a French army) |

From my bookshelves, it would be WW II naval, AWI, and ACW. I have the books, but not the troops or fleets. I do have access to local gamers who do put on games for these periods or genres |

WW1 land warfare. Always seemed too difficult to recreate the scale of the conflict on the wargaming table and skirmish games seemed too trivial. I do, however, have both ships and planes for this period. |

ACW. And I think that's the lone contender. No interest at all in painting so many drab miniatures for a black powder game when there's Napoleonics! |
