I am another fan of 20mm/ 1/72/76 that builds and wargames in Resin, metal and plastic. I use a mixture of all three for soldiers but mostly 1/72 scale tanks and vehicles. I have currently over 5000 WW2 soldiers and over 1000 vehicles from most manufacturers around the world.
I have experimented with both 15mm and 28mm. I found the 15mm too small for individual detail and the 28mm too big for Battalion size battles.

All depends on what you want- A long time ago I was foundering around doing all different periods in all different scales, and not really enjoying any of it. So I asked myself "what do you really want out of wargaming?" The answer was that I wanted a HUGE table covered in beautiful 25/28mm napoleonics- So I went out, built myself a big shed, put a 21' by 12' table in it and started a big napoleonic collection. Over 10 years on and the collecton is complete (8 or 9,000 figs).
Now I've moved on to WWII- I bought a few 1/285th, but it wasn't feeling right- so its 20mm for me- just finished a divisional+ sized German force for the mediteranean 41 to 44- and am now starting on the Yanks,(a friend has the Brits) then it will be early eastern front- I can't wait!
cheers chris

Christot, how do you play with a 12´ wide table? I mean for reaching to the centre?

Feldwebel03 Nov 2005 4:24 p.m. PST

Christot, I struggle on a 16'long X 7' wide table and curse everytime I knock the trees down. Do you have the center cut out?

Sorry for the late reply- had to take the missus away for her birthday- the table has a central section 21' by 6' then behind each side is an additional 21'x 3'- The gaps in between are 30" to save space- the gaps do take a little getting used to at first i.e. a unit on the back tables spatial relationship to the centre table but you quickly adapt. This system allows deployment of reserves/units moving up etc- Usually most action still takes place in the centre 6' All the terrain boards are 3x3 so are totally interchangable. I also have a few 30" by 36" boards to fill in the gaps if neccessary for special games but generally filling the gaps makes for awkward games. You can also use the gaps as their real width for big rivers/impassable cities etc.

cheers chris

I sometimes feal like a minority… I am a 20mm wargamer, who only uses resine and plastic… If anyone is interested in 20mm plastic, they should go to plasticsoldierreview.com, it has reviews of vertually all 20mm plastic figures (but no armor), personally I think Revell is the best manufacturer
