Gents,

I painted these Minifigs Hoplites way back in the late 1970's. They were based originally for playing with Al Margolis' Legion rules.

After playing with them just a few times, these and the rest of my 15mm Greek army was put away, ultimately for almost 50 years now. This weekend I pulled them out from their tomb, and decided to do a remounting of the collection (the first stands completed my Spartans here).

Since I recently found a rule set on Wargame Vault called Wars Ancient, by Mario Magni, that look very interesting, and should scale well with this old collection, it's been an idea to resurrect these old Minifigs, and make up for some very long, lost time!

Bravo! There are few things as satisfying as resurrecting old warriors to fight again. May I suggest the To the Strongest Rules as another possibility. They are my favorite ancients rules and they may be used with any basing you prefer.
Have fun!

I find the old miniatures have a certain charm to them. Nicely done sir.

They look great – and agree the older style figures do have a look all their own. In some ways I prefer it for big battles rather than the more modern "full of character" figures which can make regiments look like a skirmishing platoon.

Thank you Guys, and I'm feelin' even better now about getting these old figs ready for action.

Cheers!

Excellent work. I have a soft spot for old figures as well.

Great looking figures. Very impressed that the spears have survived so long.

Gray Bear, and 79thPA, thanks for those kind words.

Bashy…..enjoyed the music video very much! :)))

Hey, Swampster – they stayed in such good shape because I never played with them hardly, but they're getting some "bucket list" attention now!

Got the Thebans re-based yesterday (looks like I didn't spend as much time on these, and got tired of painting shields and horsehair). :)))

Really like 15mm Minifigs range of figures. I wish they were still available in the States.
