Interesting article by Rene Chartrand
Journal of the Society for Army Historical Research, Vol. 92, No. 370 (Summer 2014), pp. 97-102 (7 pages)

Includes a colour print of the lancers & a picture of Colonel John Downie, a rather ecentric Scotsman, in rather ancient dress! He was given Pizzaro's sword which he carried into action, manging to throw it away before he was captured.
Just in case someone wishes to add an unusual unit to their Spanish army

A fascinating article! Thank you very much for bring its notice to TMP.

I would like to replicate this legion in 28mm as part of my Peninsular plan but fear trying to replicate the exotic uniforms would prove problematic.

Couldn't read it without joining something I wished to avoid but Chartrand is ALWAYS informative and a good read.
