Having aquired a number of the teddy bear castings in approximate 18th century uniforms. And having decided to paint them for the AWI period.

I am faced with a deep philosophical question: would teddy bear grenadiers wear bearskins? Or would they wear the mitre?

I'm leaning to the mitre.

If humans wear bear skin, wouldn't bears wear human hair/skin hats? 🤔 But if a dilemma, go mitre. 😉

I have some of those. The mitre is better as it looks different from the rest of the figure. Of course, they do wear bearskin on their heads UNDER the mitre, so….

Maybe it's from a different sort of bear – and that's then OK? I'm thinking "wild" bear rather than "teddy" bear…

Are they ruled by Christopher Robin? 🙂

As noted by Colgar6, my grenadier bears wear bearskins from black bears

Bearskins. War is Hell.

I'm with Daemon. Mitres with Blue coats--the Regiments von Steiff and von Gundt, perhaps? The Regiments Hammacher and Schlemmer? But red coats and bearskins for Sir Theodore Hambly's Regiment of Foot.

Go 'fake fur', then you can paint the bearskins in all kinds of neon colors… ;-)

As Pooh Bear might say…

"Oh, Bother!"

I love mitres, though tend to 1812 Russians and only 1 by rights should have them have a few regiments.
Go with mitres

Bashytubits14 Mar 2023 4:05 p.m. PST

compromise, go with bare skins.

I, for one, am pleased to see the British supporting our right to arm bears.

I'd go with mitres, for the contrast, as others have suggested. But if you want bearskins for some, why not use polar bear? White fur for contrast could look spiffy.

Zephyr115 Mar 2023 2:37 p.m. PST

If you go Ottobear, you can give them fezzes… ;-)
