Tosh! Joined the Earl of Mar's army in 1715? I think not. If you want to get noticed look unique; wearing bearskins and riding greys is OTT but ensured that that they got more attention than the other eight British heavy cavalry regiments that also took part in the charge.

You'd think he might at least give the regiment's correct title.

In the appendices he does mention 'The North British Dragoons', if it has any meaning for him.

A very superficial account indeed. Absolutely no novelty, no critique of their role and hardly any account of the rest of the Union Brigade. Much of the "essay" is an account of the sequence of coalitions that opposed Napoleon and irrlevant.
