What colour were the NCO stripes on the grey uniforms issued to British troops in the 1st Sudan War 1885? |

That would be the three campaigns of 1884-85, no? I am unable to cite contemporary chapter and verse but the illustrations (for instance Perry &co,Barthorp) indicate home service stripes or local versions in the same vein, gold coloured and perhps bordered with red. This may have varied somewhat according to unit. |
