I intend to do some of the clan battles of Highland Scotland. one figure is one man, with 30-40 figures to a side. Wondering what rules I should be using. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Tribal would work. I caters to heroes leading lesser troops with a focus on hand combat, boasts and honour. Very clannish…

Lion Rampant, just write your own army lists

Or I have "Dish of Spurs" designed for Border Reivers but would work a treat. PM me with your email I'll send you a copy.

"The Sword and the Haggis", a variant of "The Sword and the Flame".

I am (unofficially) adapting Test of Honour for my 17thC clan battles. The system really translates well and fortunately there are lots of relative analogues with 16th & 17thC Scotland in terms weapons, social strata, etc. There are enough "character" elements (e.g., stats for Honour and Wits, with appropriate tests) to add variety to the heroes and champions if you want, but it also plays perfectly fine without these.
