There are three new volumes coming out in the Game Master's Handbook series:
The Game Master's Book of Astonishing Random Tables: 300+ Unique Roll Tables to Enhance Your Worldbuilding, Storytelling, Locations, Magic and More … RPG Adventures (The Game Master Series) Hardcover – June 20, 2023; 288 pages; 8.5" x 10.88" x 1" thick.
The Game Master's Book of Villains, Minions and Their Tactics: Epic new antagonists for your PCs, plus new minions, fighting tactics, and guidelines … RPG adventures (The Game Master Series) Hardcover – October 31, 2023; 256 pages; 8.5" x 10.88" x 1" thick.
The Game Master's Handbook of Proactive Roleplaying: Guidelines and strategies for running PC-driven narratives in 5E adventures (The Game Master Series) Paperback – October 17, 2023; 240 pages.
While these are billed as being for 5e, that is pure marketing -- they are adaptable with any RPG, not just FRPG's, either. I have found several of them to be fun to read, informative, and useful. The first two are hardcover books, while the last one is softcover, and small (240 pages; 5.5" x 8.5" x 1" thick).
The last one, Guidelines and strategies for running PC-driven narratives in 5E adventures, really intrigues me. I realize I could apply their premise without paying for their 240 page, softcover book, but they've done the work, so I don't have to. I am disappointed that this one will be paperback (5.5" x 8.5", so the size of a sheet of paper folded in half). I can live with it being paperback, if they do not produce it in hardcover.
The other three titles are of general interest. I collect books for improving my DM'ing skills, and these appear to fit that concept. I've collected several DM Guides over the last decade+, regardless of Edition, company, or rules set, as long as they get good reviews as being more than just crunch for the DM. I love learning new ideas and techniques for improving my DM skills. After gaming for 42+ years (1980 – Present), I know a lot, already, but I will never know everything.
Thought I would share this information, in case there are other members interested, but unaware of these new book offerings coming up.
Any other books in this vein you would care to recommend? Cheers!
