I'm looking for 20mm WS 62e 6x6 Dodge that was used to tow the 57mm AT gun. A friend needs some in 20mm, but I have been looking for 3D files so I can print him some. In the same vein, does anyone know if a 20mm M3 artillery piece is made? (or 3D). That's the infantry cannon company piece. (and yes, damn double posting) |

Empress miniatures do a nice M3 and S&S Models have a WC62. link link |

Thanks. Of course, if anyone knows any more let me know. Odd that the 62 is not more common. As it towed the 57mm,and most gamers are tank crazy. |

I think you already explained the problem, jg--"tank crazy"--not AT gun, combined arms or recon crazy. A wise manufacturer will make tanks which never went into production before he turns his attention to medium AT guns or their prime movers. This is especially true if the unproduced tank would have been overgunned and had so much armor as to be virtually immobile. Compare catalog listings for the Maus with those for the Italian L6, which served from 1941 to the end of the war on multiple fronts. (I'll just retire to the Piepenbunker and wait for the treadheads to mass for an attack. Fortunately, I don't think the local road or rail networks would let them get here in a Maus.) |

back in the day there was a wargames magazine that used to always feature the 57mm guns a US unit had, in every scenario. As of course they were the most powerful organic Anti-tank weapons a WW2 infantry regiment had. So you'd think there would be more interest in the 57mm. Especially when it could be used with the British made tungsten rounds that were mighty powerful. Now if I can find some dead cows in 20mm – preferably swollen up in the hot sun "Normandy style" |

Not swollen. Posibly cut up. You do remember the old Willie and Joe? Joe behind a 50 cal still smoking, and the caption "Coulda sworn there was krauts behind them cows. Wake the boys and tell them it's steak for breakfast." |

naw, Normandy cows were swollen. They get cut down in the fields, sit in the sun for a while and swell up. I do like the AB ones, but they are just darn pricey. |

My US troops have 57s, but they are towed by jeeps:) |

martin rapier i was wondering about the primemover for the 57mm ,any info on the US army using the jeep for the 57mm as that would be very handy (jeep easier to get) |

17th airborne using a jeep with 57mm
Other than the airborne, however, dont believe the jeep was used to tow the 57 with the Dodge being the preferred prime mover |

Back in the day there was a wargames magazine that used to always feature the 57mm guns a US unit had, in every scenario. Perhaps you're thinking of *Wargamers Digest*? Gene McCoy loved to put 57mm ATGs in scenario "puzzlers", where he would pose the tactical situation and then (later) his proposed course of action. Trying to remember what he used as prime movers. Maybe RoCo Dodge Power Wagons (despite their being 1/87 scale versus the 1/76 scale Airfix guns)? Those were desperate days. ;-) I still have old issues of WGD. |
