Does anyone know examples of battles with Scottish Schiltron son both sides?

Or did they typically only use them in large battles vs English?

When did the Scottish fight each other?

"When did the Scottish fight each other?"

Pretty much all the time until 1746. Even in the Edwardian wars, not everyone was pro-Bruce.

I know they fought each other, but was that mostly nobles fighting nobles?

Did two pike formations ever square off?

Interesting question!! I'd love to see some informed commentary, as a Scottish history buff. Do we have detailed information about internecine warfare among Scottish factions of this era? The various nobles vs. the king, or against each other, or Lowlanders vs. Highlanders?

piper909……most warfare, internal or external ….was small parties of mounted men-at-arms. The Highland/Lowland divide (such as it was) did not really exist as we would think of it. Beyond the day-to-day stuff a lot of spearmen and a modest number of archers looking the same on either side….same with English troops. Unprotected barefoot figures beloved of wargame designers would be excellent for…..errrr…..something else.
