Hello,

My painter retired so I am looking for someone new. I have some 15mm Sikh War Brits and Sikhs to paint.

I have been looking at Fernando's service, but from what I understand I need to create a painting guide for them to follow because they are not historians. I am told that it has to be basic. Is submitting details like turnbacks, epaulets, ect. too detailed?

For those that have had these troops done, what did you do and did your troops come back correct?

I was once told by someone who did have Sikh War figs painted that I need to be very precise. He was not, and all his troops came back with yellow facings, just like the photo he sent, and omitting the details about painting the facing colors for the other units.

I have used Fernando for about 10 years now and have had SYW, French Revolution, Napoleonic, American Indians, various animal types and 1920s Chinese and Americans. I prepare a separate sheets for each unit to be painted and sometimes attach a picture. I have always been happy with their work. At the beginning I had an issue with a unit being painted incorrectly. Fernando had me return them and he repainted them at no additional cost to me.

They can follow directions but yes, you need to be specific.

I bag figures with the same unis together when I ship. Minor variants can be a note. For example, for French infantry I send a picture like this:

Label each part, i.e. "cuffs and collars" with an arrow. You can then tell them 24 in red cuffs and collars, 24 in yellow, 24 in sky blue. If you know the Vallejo color numbers that helps too.

A friend of mine had his entire AWI army painted by Fernando. It's a beautiful army, but like the others have said, be very specific. From what I have seen, you won't be disappointed.

I've been using them for more than 20 years. Just be specific for what you want. I send a separate picture for each group and have never been dissatisfied.

Extra Crispy +1

I always include a color photo or print of what I want them do paint. And they will email you a photo of the first few of your painted figures for your approval. Never failed me.

This is what I send them with my figures.
