The US military conducted two raids with the second killing the ISIS leader primarily involved in planning prison breaks.

Yep … another one bites the dust … again …

As both articles said. There are, IIRC 10,000 ISIS prisoners in camps guarded by the Kurds. I frankly don't think they are able to come back into modern civil society. The children are being educated in ISIS dogma, etc. Gitmo may have to be expended.

Thresher0118 Feb 2023 11:15 p.m. PST

Wackamole.

A pity we let so many Jihadis go from Gitmo.

Seems as if one is killed and 10 more rise as replacements.

That ISIS leader must have been the one who drew the short straw this month.

Has Guantanmamo been finished? UK… do not know! I did not entierly agree…'Land of the Free' and all that! But UK had Own needed policies… and many US did not agree with them !
Cage Bad B*****s up! All you can do! Except bullet to Head. Some nations OK with that! Costs Less!

It won't change a whole lot. Another one will step up.

Our NATO ally has some thoughts:
According to Turkey, the Syrian Democratic Forces has direct links to the PKK.

Since the territorial defeat of ISIL, the SDF has increasingly been involved with resisting the growing Turkish occupation of northern Syria.[

Yes they keep making them and we keep killing them. As long as it takes …

It won't change a whole lot. Another one will step up.
As I said we will kill the next one too.

Has Guantanmamo been finished?
It still holds about 30-40 terrorists. I don't think anybody wants them and if released that may go back on Jihad. So many who we have released have continued to be terrorists, etc. At least 3 are in the Taliban/AQ hierarchy.

As I mentioned 10,000 ISIS in camps guard by the Kurds. What are we going to do with these radical islamists ? Just like with many terrorists we have released, they go back to being terrorists/jihadis …

The ISIS leader we just killed was plotting to break some of his ISIS brothers out of the camps. We can't let that happen. Unless they get released, we track them and kill them. Note many of those ISIS are the wives and children of these jihadis. They are as radical as the men. The children are being taught ISIS dogma. But some think they can be rehabbed … I'm skeptical to say the least.

"Wackamole."

Not a game they should be playing if they are the mole… ;-)

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP20 Feb 2023 10:07 a.m. PST

We killed a lot of moles and this will continue. When it will end ? Does not matter, it is the new normal. Killing islamic jihadis/terrorits is SOP.

And we can't let them try to break out the 10,000[including women & chldren] ISIS out of the internment camps[the are not classied as POWs]. There seems to be IMO no reason for us to free these 10,000. And just let them died of natual causes, etc. ISIS is a plague, that can't be let to fester and grow.

Choctaw20 Feb 2023 10:36 a.m. PST

Every single time we kill them and disrupt their operations is a victory for us.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP20 Feb 2023 5:58 p.m. PST

Very much so … if we can't let them get organized, trained, etc. They will be much less of a threat. So, they can keep making more jihadis/terrorists and we will keep killing them. Especially their leaders.

I always wondered who killed the Hezbollah leader Imad Mughniyeh who was responsible for the bombing of our USMC and French Para barracks in Lebanon in '83. I figured it was the Mossad or CIA or both who killed him in 2008. It was a good guess …

It was reported he was the biggest killer of Americans until 9/11, IIRC. He was terminated with extreme prejudice, finally. Much has now been unclassified. Even a movie was made recently. islamic terrorists/jihadis have to know and it's been said a number of times. No matter how long it takes, we will hunt you down & kill you. E.g., UBL, 2 of his sons[at least], Imad Mughniyeh, AZK, Suleimani, Baghdadi, AZH, and many more who "reaped the whirlwind". Payback is a mutha' !

And yes, I am "obsessed" with the killing of these islamic terrorists/jihadis. Who killed many Americans and many others … We and our allies have killed many ISIS leaders & followers in Syria lately too.

The GWoT continues …

And now the Taliban is killing them.

BenFromBrooklyn28 Apr 2023 3:25 p.m. PST

The problem with killing leaders of groups like this is that creates promotion opportunities, while doing nothing to control the source: the ideology. As long as people believe the ISIS line of camel dung, the next yutz in line will be thrilled with his new position (and the increase in salary, of course!).

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP29 Apr 2023 10:00 a.m. PST

And now the Taliban is killing them.
As long as the Taliban/AQ are killing ISIS in A'stan that is a good thing. We certainly left enough weapons, rolling stock etc. behind. Hopefully the Taliban/AQ will use it effectively. They have one of the largest Light Motorized Infantry Forces in the region.

while doing nothing to control the source: the ideology. As long as people believe the ISIS line of camel dung, the next yutz in line will be thrilled with his new position (and the increase in salary, of course!).
Their 15th Century(?) ideology will not change anytime soon. They are strongly wedded to radical fanatical religious dominated beliefs. They have to move into the 20th Century. However, they may not even be ready for that. Let alone the 21st.

Kind of like we were taught/understood in the Infantry in my long-passed youth. old fart Enemy leadership is always a priority target. But if you kill one, another will replace him sooner or later. So, you kill the "new" one too. Repeat as often as needed … The math is simple … it comes down to killing them in large numbers as often as possible. Again repeat …

The Turks say they killed another ISIS leader in Syria. Hope so …

Yeah I would pass on such opportunities, and any conversion that happens at the end of a gun barrel….

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP03 May 2023 2:12 p.m. PST

We can do 0 about their ideology. They are extremely wedded to that corrupted way of thinking, IMO.

Yeah I would pass on such opportunities, and any conversion that happens at the end of a gun barrel….
At this point it is the best opinion, IMO. Also note the Kurds are holding somewhere around 10,000 plus or more of ISIS men in some camps and ISIS women & children in others. These camps are in Syria.

They are still spouting the ISIS line in all camps. The children are being indoctrinated by their mothers with this mad dogma.

So we must kill ISIS and AQ at every chance we get. As ISIS has tried to free some of their comrades from these camps. We don't need 10,000 more ISIS in the Mid East. So killing them is one way to keep their plans only on the drawing board.

And both ISIS and AQ are planning to attack the West… again.

You can't talk to ISIS or AQ. You cannot change their minds. And move into modernity, etc. So again, at this point kill as many as we can and as often as we can.

Sadly, again I don't know what to do with 10,000+ ISIS war criminals, etc., in camps. Does anyone ? Maybe wait until they all die off ? Decades from now … The cost may be prohibitive. Let the UN feed them. I don't think any of them could go back to being just peaceful farmers, goat herders, etc.

9/11 defendants could face death penalty … We can only hope … their terrorist act(s) cannot go unpunished. Death is the only solution, IMO.

Rival US backed groups fight amongst themselves. Instead of fighting ISIS …

This is the problem with almost all self proclaim orthodoxies at some point they inevitably turn on themselves. Various fascist/ racist groups in the US have murder each other over who was the whitest.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP08 Sep 2023 7:05 p.m. PST

Yes, but it seems in the Mid East and A'stan it is much more prevalent. Religious, ethnic, tribal, leader affiliations, etc. hatreds that go back quite a long time.

You can't free a fish from water …

Just a reminder … today is 9/11 … we should never forget.
