Being sunk by your own torpedo was not a uncommon end for Submarines. There is a German U-boat off the east coast that suffered a similar fate. |

USN torpedoes had the circular-running bug until after the war; it wasn't just submarines. The destroyer tasked with scuttling the burning carrier USS Princeton nearly scuttled herself instead. |
