In another forum, players were kicking around the best RPG to use for contemporary era Private Military Contractors like Wagner and Constellis et al.

I was thinking a spy genre RPG might capture the Contract leads to Mission leads to limits and structure aspect. But perhaps a straight contemporary war RPG might be best.

Anyone have thoughts on which?

The 2nd ed T2K had a Merc supplement and it shouldn't be hard to run current ops with the new version. I'm thinking of using SOF Warrior from Britton Publishing for modern rpg-lite mini gams. It's detailed but has skills that cover most situations.

Twilight: 2000 is a good shout. The modern version by Free League is good, but different from the old GDW version. I personally wouldn't bother with Twilight: 2013

As an alternative I'd suggest Modern War by by Zozer games. It uses the Cepheus Engine, an OGL version of the Traveller system and is pretty comprehensive. It also has a few supplements to cover air power and some fictional conflicts too. It also has a neat conversion utility, so if one of your players wants to use an obscure weapon, you can stat it up. I spent a little time finding the most ridonculous high calibre pistols I could find and converting them just for S&G.
