I'm guessing I can use British Marlburian figures for Russian hatmen? Same with cavalry?

Cheers

Russian cavalry was all dragoon.

Minifigs? They do have in catalogue Russian infantrymen in hat:

Or am I misunderstanding the sort of hat you were referring to?

Russian troops also wore tricornes. British figures should be fine.

Yes sorry about the confusion, I meant tricornes.

Oh apologies, yes I also believe that British ones would work.

Thanks chaps!

For what it's worth, Dixon Miniatures have musketeers in Tricorn as well as pikemen in Tricorn. They also have a musketeer in pokalem together with a line of Swedes.

What Dixon (whose figures comprise my GNW armies) do NOT have, vexingly, is generals. Does anyone know if the Minifigs generals/personalities are generally compatible with Dixon (I'm thinking the horse sizes, in particular)?

I use to base my Dixons and Mififigs infantry in separate units – for I considering them compatible enough to be used alongside in an army, although never side by side.

Perhaps due to this, I have seldom built cavalry units with a mix of Dixon and Minifigs horses. However, I've happened to find one such example:

.

As you can see, all human figures are Dixon, while horses are also mostly from that make; however, there is one Essex horse (that of the officer) and a Minifigs one (the leftmost trooper in second rank).

Here, another example of Dixon and Minifigs sharing base. The standard bearer is from Dixon, while general and horse are Minifigs.

Hope this helps,

Lluis, many thanks! These photos show that the Minifigs generals should be quite acceptable alongside the Dixon units.

In general, Dixon, Essex and Miniature Figurines mix well together – maybe not on the same stand but definitely in the same army.
