On the afternoon of Monday, January 23, 2023, my good friend and "sister from another mister," Lori Brom succumbed to a heart attack at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. Lori was a delightful person to know, funny, witty, and smart. After her father Larry Brom died in 2015, she and her sister Christy carried on Sergeants3 and the publishing of Larry's many rules, especially "The Sword and the Flame."

Lori was the sparkplug behind the unfortunately short-lived Colonial Barracks conventions in New Orleans in the early 2010s. There gathered the most enthusiastic devotees of Larry's rules to play games and visit with our friends, both old and new. Economics and Covid put an end to that convention, much to our loss.

She and Christy welcomed my wife and me into their home many times. Those visits were always full of laughter and stories. We didn't get to see them in person these past several years but did correspond via telephone, e-mail, and letter.

A loss too soon of a wonderful lady. May you rest in peace in the loving arms of your parents on the green shores of the never-dying lands in the west.

"And all will turn to silver glass
a light on the water
grey ships pass into the west."

Well said Jim. I was lucky to meet both her and Christy at their both at a couple Historicon way back when. Was she married? Did she have children?

Echoing others by saying thank you, Jim, for passing on the sad news and even more so for being such a good friend over the decades to the entire Brom clan, and on this unfortunate occasion especially to Lori. I count myself lucky for having been able to meet and spend even a little time with her and to count her as a friend and get the chance to laugh at her sometimes shocking jokes.

May her memory be a Blessing for all who knew and loved her.

Sorry to hear this. Although I did not know her, I have spent some time in New Orleans and can attest that the folks who live there are some of the most hospitable people I've ever met.

This is such sad news. Condolences to her sister Christy.

Very sad. Far too often these days, I read of the passing of those names that were so instrumental in the hobby that I love so much.

I remember my introduction to the Broms and their ruleset TSATF fairly early into my embark into historical wargaming. Ordered their rules, corresponded briefly and would see them representing at conventions. May she rest in peace.

I am very, very saddened by this news. I never got to meet Lori, but I knew her thru her posts here, and thru the works of her father. She always came across as a class act and careful guardian of her father's legacy. I had in mind for several years to contact her about TS&TF rules variants, or if I could help editing with a new revision. Blocked for years by house moves and the pandemic, this hope is now cut off. God bless the family in this hard time.

Thanks, Jim. Give Christy a big hug from all of us!!

Jim, very eloquent and true words! A fitting memoriam for a very special woman. The Brom's have touched so many of our lives in so many ways. Larry's rules bound us together, but their good nature and fun loving spirits made them
memorable. I'm honored to call Lori a friend, I will truly miss her.

Lori was always one of the Bright Spirits of the Colonial Barracks crowd. I always looked forward to seeing her. Her absense is a real loss.

Especially for those of us who've played TSATF since the first edition, this is another great loss.
