Members and John,

Pardons needed for this fishing expedition (post) here, but in another 3D printing thread, John mentioned this -

"My purchase of plastic or metal miniatures has dropped by about 90%. I have been printing WWI German East Africa 10mm figs as I just bought TFL if the Lord Spares us."

I'm hoping John might be able to expand his thoughts on this WWI East Africa project he's been working on (it's a period and theater that I've built into with 28mm, but feel is ideally suited for 10mm too)?

John, can you elaborate on your progress with this project thus far?

Did a Google search for 10mm schutztruppe and found this designer makes all sorts of 6-15mm WW1 East Africa files: link

Perhaps this it, looks fairly comprehensive and I can't imagine there are many designs out there for such a niche.

Henry Turner makes several different 3d printing ranges: WWI, 1805 Nappys, Age of Sail starting from the 17th century, ACW and Cold War. He is currently working on NATO infantry for a Kickstarter. His figures work well at 6mm and 10mm scales.

Hi, just saw this. I have printed off a several 100 10mm German East Africa infantry, mg's and artillery. I also printed off Indian and British infantry, artillery, Cavalry and mg's. They are the STL's from Turner Miniatures. Other than printing them off I haven't moved much further. I have printed resources and am still looking for what rules I will be using. I do like the idea of 10mm though. I also bought a bunch of 1/72 Hat figs as well. My next step is to start priming them. I also have Pendraken figs for a French Indo china 10mm project. I am unsure which will be painted first. But I like 10mm!

Thanks

John

John, thanks for the update on your 10mm project here, and sounds like you've already got a good amount of the core troops needed.

WWI in East Africa has to be a real blast to play! Bernard Cornwell's "The War in Africa" is a MUST read. Truth is stranger than fiction and he recounts many instances of that!

I will be looking at Turner's stl files for sure. Thanks for that info.
