Poll question--and general curiosity. How far (in hours) would you travel each way to take part in what you expected to be a good miniatures game? Separate convention question will follow.

Me? Two hours has been sadly common. Say three for a max.

I will do a 4-6 hour drive for a friend's game. For me, this is better than a hit-or-miss convention… I know for certain that I will enjoy a friend's game! Cheers!

I'll drive 2 hours for a good game. Eat breakfast out, 2 hour drive, game, dinner on the way home. Makes for a nice day.

jdpintex21 Jan 2023 8:30 a.m. PST

3 hrs

Lascaris21 Jan 2023 8:36 a.m. PST

I routinely drive 2.5 hours each way to play games with my brother.

Wildman21 Jan 2023 8:51 a.m. PST

5-8 hours (depends on traffic) to visit a friend for the weekend. That weekend includes at least one or more games.
That is the most I travel for a game. Haven't done that
since covid.
Locally no more than 30 minutes.

I used to travel a little over 1 hour

Stryderg21 Jan 2023 10:01 a.m. PST

For a one-off game, or maybe two, about 2 hours driving one way.

Usually an hour but maybe up to 2 for a special event.

Dave Knight21 Jan 2023 11:16 a.m. PST

Usually just 15 minutes, I did one 500 miles trip last year but made a week's holiday of it

Half Hour, no more than that.

As current history shows, about an hour, give or take. But depending on the company, I might travel further.

I think the most time I've spent going to a friend's place for miniatures gaming was about an hour and a half.

irishserb21 Jan 2023 12:51 p.m. PST

Probably 3 hours, 1:30-1:40 has been pretty typically over the last ten years or so.

2-3 hours

For regular week night games 15-30 minutes. For a special weekend game non convention 1-2 hours.

My longest drive to play in a friend's game was 3.5 hours

My weekly gaming commute usually takes 1 1/2 hours when I leave at 5 PM on a Friday and 45 minutes when I return later that night.

We host, so usually 40' from the living room to the dining room table … <1 minute.

Everybody in our group is <20 miles away in the DC metropolitan driving area … so about 9-11 hours driving? :) Seriously anywhere from 30-60 minutes.

On the long side of things, ~15 hour flight to Inchon then 2 hour drive to Camp Humphrey to play at SOM/DLOM's place. It's about an 11 hour flight to Rome and about 90 minutes to the NATO M&S Center.

ZULUPAUL Supporting Member of TMP22 Jan 2023 12:27 p.m. PST

about an hour

Martin Rapier22 Jan 2023 12:51 p.m. PST

An hour or so. I guess the answer will vary depending on where you are in the world.

longspear23 Jan 2023 4:45 a.m. PST

3 hours is my longest and 30 mins my shortest.

Personal logo Old Contemptible Supporting Member of TMP23 Jan 2023 4:55 p.m. PST

For me 30 minutes. I did at one time have a player who drove an hour and a half each way once a month, to play in my games.

ChrisBrantley26 Jan 2023 7:00 p.m. PST

In DC traffic, even close takes an hour each way. :-). That's about my limit.
