"Alpha Strike report and some thoughts about Alpha Strike" Topic

One of the first game we played with my kids, skrimish in city and some thoughts about the game.
In core Alpha Strike isnt bad game althought i like Heavy Gear Blitz more, Alpha Strike have its own merits. Alpha strike isnt replacement for Classic Battletech and it will never be – in 4 on 4 engagement i will choose classic battletech – but for serious larger battles involving vehicles, artillery, VTOLs or company of mechs the AS is way to go.
Yes its not detailed as Classic Battletech but you must understand that your zooming from lance commander point of view into the boots of company/battalion (sometimes even regimental) commander and you dont need to worry about tiny details and that is good because we played company level battles in CBT and they are really time consuming. All that said Alpha Strike isnt bad game you just need little different mindset than for CBT

Nice looking game! These days I even prefer Aloha Strike for 4 on 4 games, play several games in a session or just one quickie.

Do those rules use Unit Activation or IGOUGO ?

Valderian – Yes DZC ones.
Legion 4 – Alternating unit activations and Simultaneous combat – damage is resolved at end phase (like in classic battletech)
miniMo – I think Battletech Destiny from DFA is much better for classic Lance on Lance combat, but i agree if you dont get grubbed in details Alpha Strike is way to go
