20 years after its discovery in south Wales, UK, the Newport ship is ready to be reconstructed. The last parts have just been recovered from Portsmouth where they had been undergoing preservation. link It may be as significant as the Mary Rose. Barry |

It may be as significant but there's far less of it. There's not much more than the bottom and barely up to the waterline i.e., the bit you cut off and discard from a ship model for wargaming. |

Yes, but it's a very different ship from the Mary Rose or Vassa. An entirely different era of shipbuilding that was important for hundreds of years. The reconstruction will be somewhat interpretive, but it could still be awesome. |

The parts above the water do exist a plenty in illustrations and images (well, at least they DO exist) but these hardly to never show how a ship is actually built. Put together, it will hopefully deepen our understandig of the northern shipbuildings tradition. |

is a big fan of the Age of Sail, and these ships really speak to him - he loves transitional eras, and the Anglo-Dutch Wars was one of those.
