Coming back for the second year, this regional-sized con in Richmond is well worth checking out. It will be in the Greater Richmond Convention Center again, but lessons learned from last year got it moved earlier in the month and to a much bigger space. Please check out richmondopen.com for details. Yes, there will be space for historicals (and other genres) open gaming! We need GMs to sign up to run some games. Signing up is easy on the website. Please consider putting on a game. There are two parking decks attached to the convention center; you will need carts to move from the garage to the hall, but it is enclosed and mostly carpeted the whole way with elevators available to all levels. Search Facebook for Richmond Open, or just go to richmondopen.com. |

May is just a bad month for me, and this year is no exception with graduations taking priority. I hope if does well. |

Last year's show went pretty good especially for the first time out. There were some good lessons learned and this year, with a larger venue and a non-holiday weekend, I hope it will be even better. While first glance at the website might look like it's a non-historicals convention, last year the historical attendance was nearly half of the show. We just need more GMs to come out and run more games. For a weekend getaway for an historical buff, it's a great location. There are ACW and AWI battlefields and sites of interest all around, as well as some cool museums in Richmond. The two parking decks attached to the Convention Center have tons of parking, so you can stay out of downtown at the hotel of your choice and easily drive in and expect covered parking to be available. Come check it out…the price can't be beat! |
