It only took me a year to get back on YouTube, now with a much better video camera.

Bargain modelling purchases from the UK high street or outlets plus some general modelling tips which could apply anywhere. The Works has a paint brush sale!

My movie also includes a new use for a metal tea strainer.

I will have to try out the metallic Sharpies!

@Greiber:
Trust me, they work. Very handy for running a silver one along the top of a musket barrel.

@Greiber:
I should add that, about two hours later, I was painting a Perry metal 28mm Union mounted officer. I needed to edge his horse blanket in gold and his buttons and shoulder boards. I used a gold Sharpie for all these and found edging the horse blankets two stripes incredibly easy. I then did his sword with the silver sharpie.

Be warned with Sharpies. If you varnish over them they can bleed and make a right mess that no overpainting will fix, never going there again.

@gbowen:
I have never had that problem as I tend to use the Sharpie last.
It might also depend on what type of varnish you use as a last coat – do you use acrylic or poly (white spirit type)?

I only did it once and never will again; it was a poly type spray varnish.

@gbowen:
Thank you for that extra. I have now posted a text warning under the video explaining that this may happen. I always use them AFTER the varnish stage as a final 'touch up' to give some gleam. At that stage there should be no risk.

I have posted a new and longer video tonight which includes up-date on this earlier video, especially the Sharpie issue.
