I bought my son this last Christmas. link He is a huge Doom video game fan and he asked for the board game. We played it three times in the last year. We tried it again (3rd time) a couple of days ago and it took me around an hour and a half to set it up. We both find it way too complicated, with way too many cards, decks, etc., etc. So, the question is, what sci-fi rules are out there that would allow us to use the figures to play a game that is pretty close to Doom, but without all of the cards and decks? We are looking for simple and fun. Thanks. |

Try Fistful of Lead – Galactic Heroes, that should work for you. |

Best thing I did with the Doom game was to paint the figures and sell it. link

Those figures are from a different version of the game, nor am I selling the ones that belong to my son. |

I built a plaster 3D DOOM setup, using the game tiles as a guide (two sets, actually, one in "28mm" and one in "15mm". I'm planning to do another set with walls like the PC game) plus extras like ladder, elevator, & stair tiles to different levels. Still working on a set of rules for it though, sorry… (and you'd need a platoon to fight your way through it… ;-) You could try using & modifying Space Hulk rules, using a card draw to determine which creatures show up when entering a room for the first time. |

Maybe Guncrawl? I've tried it once, and am modifying it a tad. |

Space Weirdos is a good low-overhead option. It's also dirt cheap on wargame vault. |
