Would French infantry for Maida in 1806 (blue coats, bicornes) work for 1796 as well? I understand that during the Revolutionary period there were many more uniforms in use, but for the blue coat and hat wearing types, what were the differences during this ten year period? |

the cut of cloth would be a whee bit different, in 1796 the lapels would fall down naturally in line with the fall of the coat as shown nicely in those b& white drawings, the coat tails more bulky, but by and large very similar – the only drawback maybe – no greatcoats in 1796 on the backpack, the hat was not a bicorne it had a third tip at the front in typical fashion of those days, so all in all I would say those 1806 types should fit in for 1796. |

For Maida you are also going to need early Napoleonic French light infantry. |

@Bill N aren't those similar to the "mid-war" infantry with a Shako? I understand they adopted the Shako around the turn of the century and that there were minimal differences between line and lights? |

Not an expert joe, but it is my understanding there were differences. For example carabiners would be in bearskins without front plates. |

The light infantry shako would have the plume on the left side of the shako. |
