Sorry… mistake from my part… the original text was…

"This past Thursday, myself and P-Y had another Kiss Me, Hardy game over discord. This time I hosted the game. We decided to play another scenario from the TFL magazine, this one written by Rich Clark. In "Baptism of Fire", we have a scenario with single ships. The scenario was taken from CS Forester's first Horatio Hornblower book, where two 5th rates decide to engage. We see the HMS Indefatigable spot a French frigate in the Bay of Biscay. Victory conditions are to capture the other ship, sinking it would be a less than satisfactory achievement….

I dearly love the Hornblower novels and the folks at TFL, but I'm puzzled by Indefatigable's classifications in the scenario.

Indefatigable started out life as a conventional 64-gun two-decker.

She was razeed to a 38 gun frigate in 1794
[UD 26 x 24lbr] + [QD 8 x 12lbr] +[FC 4 x 12lbr]

Her armament was upgraded to 44 guns in Dec 1794 by
addition of [QD 4 x 24lbr carr] + [FC 2 x 42lbr carr]

and again increased in Feb 1795 by further addition of
[QD 2 x 12lbr]

(Robert Gardiner "Frigates of the Napoleonic Wars")

Her measured tonnage was 1384t (a 32=gun frigate would have been < 1000t.

No desire to cause any strife, just curious.

Best wishes for Boxing Day everywhere it will be celebrated tomorrow.
