Ok it's early so my brain isn't working fully and this may be basic but I'm not getting the figure/unit/point make-up and costs for "In the Heart of Africa" rules by Chris Peers (this also applies when I read other "a mini can be any number of guys in a unit" type of rules) I did find some recommended unit sizes, and that works, but I'm trying to get the method behind them. Here's what I understand so far: 1. Armies are made up of units and the army lists show how many and what types of units there are. 2. A figure can be a variable number of actual dudes, that's fine. 3. Armies are made up 3-8 units 4. Each unit can have between 32-180 points. 5. The nominal max number of figures in a unit is 30. 6. There are recommended number of figures in a unit in the army list book, got that, makes sense. Q1: When the lists say 'Spearmen (4pts) with 3-5 Units of them' does that mean each figure is 4pts (30 fig unit = 120pts) or that a unit of spearmen (number of figs irrelevant) = 4 pts? I'm thinking the former. I'm using the points to get a rough force size not a x=x point count but as I read through the melee rules it looked like fig count is important for matching off combatants and it's figure removal for casualties, so more figs = more casualties and moral (roughly). Thanks in advance for cluing me in. I have other rulesets from Mr. Peers and this will help with those I believe. I'm mostly a skirmish (1 fig = 1 man and units are just those dudes grouped up) so it's a bit new. |

It's been a while since I played them but if I recall correctly the points are per miniature not per unit. |
