Tregrug (pronounced Tregreeg) Castle was the subject of a Time Team excavation in 2010. The castle is a bit of mystery and was the subject of extensive remodelling during the English Civil War and the 18th century. An ECW garrison of 60 men went from here to attack Raglan Castle. A large ECW battery was built in front of Tregrug. One featured item (time code 22:39) are test shots with a modern longbow which were then measured with a GPS system. The average range achieved was 223 yards. YouTube link More here: link Barry |

"Slighted at the war's end, it was subsequently redeveloped as a landscape garden feature, to complement a new house" Not the fate one expects for a Castle, to end it's life as a glorified lawn ornament. |

It looks like it started out that way when originally constructed. |
