I totally agree! Details make the difference and can be done at any scale. You need to think a little on a plan for what you need to buy and what you can create. Accesories (even boxes or barrels of flag on miniatures) are in a way, a third level of complexity to a wargame, right after the actual playing miniatures and terrain (mostly immobile, but important for breaking LOS and having something to fight for), but they are something that trigger that "I wanna play on this table" feeling.
