I came across a close combat variant in my copy of the TSATF; I am hoping someone might recognize the original source. It does not appear to be on either the Jackson Gamers website, or even the old Major General's website (which, thanks to the awesome Wayback Machine is still available!).

Assistance in attribution would be appreciated!

Cheers,
Dave

Are you referring to "The Sword to Adventure – A Close Combat
Variant" written by Jay Stribling and Mark Stevens? Uses d6 for figures, with adders and divided by 4. Got mine from SGT> 3. H

Did the link work? If not (it is to my FB page and the security features may be blocking it) then process is you allocate a certain number of dice per figure (1 per 2 Europeans, 2 per 3 warriors, etc.), then:

Each side rolls the appropriate number of D6 for units involved in the melee and adds the total. Divide each score by 10. The result is the total number of casualties inflicted on the opposing side. Fractions can be "confirmed" by rolling equal to or less than that number with a D10.

Dave

missing link – pun intended. Sounds like a variation of what Stribling did. Does work quicker than man to man in larger games. Good luck H

Ferd – do you know how I can upload a jpg or pdf to the board? I don't have a website that I can link a copy of the image to.

Hi Dave, what do you need, maybe I can assist?

Hi – I was trying to post a picture or a pdf of the variant that I have to help with it's identification. The only kind of website I have for purposes of showing a link is my FB page. But my profile is set to private, so the photo doesn't show.

How can I upload a photo or pdf to TMP so that it is visible?

Cheers,
Dave

Dave, here's the procedure.

Post pics on TMP --right click on online pic, copy pic, then paste into text box on TMP. You can only post pics that are already posted online somewhere.

It must say (img) not (URL)
URL will just be a link. Img will show the image.

Sorry - only verified members can post on the forums.
