Nice comparison, I like the Blue Moon 18mm as all my pike/shot collection is Blue Moon. Their horses can make for nice animated units.

They are rather nice takeda, if I was starting again I think Blue Moon might be getting my money.

Their ECW range is really nice and now with Scots pretty complete. I use them for 30YW also. Some older ranges are smaller but this range is all nice sized.

I'm glad you said it first, that figure on the left, I think you said it was Naismith, looks a bit like a scene from a 3 Stooges movie, legs too short and stubby. Did you look at FreiKorps, I know I sound a bit like a broken record with this line but they have done some rework on the molds and they are quite nice.

I really don't know what was going on with the Naismith horses – the limber horse is beautiful, those that have riders are (being very polite) somewhat stylised. Yet all sculpted by Mike Naismith.

Freikorps? I bought their personality packs some time ago. I don't remember anything about the horses I'm afraid, just the riders; one of the riders would have been in excess of 20mm if he had been stood up. The riders varied considerably in size, and were almost immediately consigned to the recycling.

Apart from the camp followers, and some drystone wall packs I have ended up throwing everything I have bought from Freikorps away. I invested in quite a lot of their resin buildings. Very poor casts, needed considerable cleaning up and even after that didn't fit together. They sent me better quality casts, and they were not much different. All went in the bin. So I do now avoid Freikorps like the plague

Well, like you said, that was some time ago, and they have done some considerable retooling. I had some real stinkers too once upon a time when I was a much younger man. Problem I had was that they were too brittle, but they seemed to have resolved that issue among others.
