Whilst written for Hellfire, a set of Sci Fi rules for 6mm, this scenario has mechanisms you can cheerfully rob for any scale :-)

What does happen when people open fire in the presence of the toxic waste tank?

Bashytubits03 Dec 2022 11:39 p.m. PST

Guns, laser fire, explosions around flammable and highly toxic stuff. What could go wrong?

You darned rebel scum are making it next to impossible to camp out in the toxic dump for we poor folk.

Absolutely, 'health and safety gone mad' I tell you :-)

For a miniatures game set in a small spaceport in the Traveller universe, I read up on leaks, punctures, and fires related to liquid hydrogen storage.

Then I wrote some rules for those effects. Those plastic fire templates that I'd acquired at flea markets turned out to be pretty useful.

My one observation is that terrorists probably wouldn't think in terms of "careful application of explosives," assuming "careless" will work just fine.

Jim Webster04 Dec 2022 11:05 p.m. PST

remember that if the terrorists are still on the table when the cloud reaches the table edge, they've lost because they're caught. So they have to find somewhere from where they can beat the cloud off the table.

Jim Webster04 Dec 2022 11:06 p.m. PST

Yes, I agree about the plastic templates, the only problem I had was I don't know what templates people have but it's a rare wargamer who doesn't have access to A4 :-)

The rule about spotting children reminds me of the poor penguins in the Falklands.

Jim Webster05 Dec 2022 2:13 p.m. PST

yes, 'collateral damage' doesn't really tell the full story

Hmmm, I don't know.
In Battletech my mercenary unit has a tendency to try and start fires to hamper the enemy. If there were rules for blowing up toxic waste tanks, I'm pretty sure I'd have infantry planting bombs all over as well.

Think I'm going to do some research and work on rules for this now.

Jim Webster09 Dec 2022 11:16 p.m. PST

It's fine blowing up toxic waste tanks on the way out, but not necessarily on the way in :-)
