Companion for the dramatic poll.

NO FICTION FILMS, PLEASE!

This is the poll for naming any and all documentaries, from the dry to the intriguing to the needlessly hysterical. This is the poll that's about education more than entertainment.

Now, have at it again, my friends!

I'll pass. Moving pictures are about emotion. When you want facts, get a book with footnoting and bibliography.

Realtime History (Youtube) has several. There is another channel that did all of the Marshals as well

The Movie Waterloo is pretty accurate AND entertaining.

Also, I agree with the "pick up a book" comment.

Well, books, yes. But this is a companion poll to the dramatic film poll, so whether or not books are superior to documentaries isn't really relevant.
SO, excepting the fact that books are generally superior for detailed study and education on a given topic, are there any "good" documentaries on the subject?

tbh, I can't think of a single Napoleonic documentary I've seen, or none memorable enough to suggest as option anyway.

Polls go on a buddy system these days?

It was actually my attempt NOT to have documentaries included in the dramatic film poll by creating an appropriate "sister" poll to capture those responses. Basically, I was trying to cut off the "I didn't read the original post through, or didn't care" responses with a bit of shiny to the side.

But instead, this poll has been hijacked by snark about books.

*facepalm*

I should know better by now that TMP will always be TMP.

Yes, Parzival. Start a poll asking "which source of rumor gets you the most accurate information?" And people question your premise.

Sean Bean did a great one. No really, this is a documentary!

Epic History TV channel on YouTube has good potted histories, not quite documentaries though.

Jennifer, when I ask a polls question about movies or books, I'm really just fishing for good suggestions!

There are a few but not many documentaries on Napoleon. Honestly, most documentaries and films seem to be more interested in his love life than forging an empire. Some of the stuff on Youtube is really good. Kings and Generals and Epic History both do a good job of explaining the campaigns and battles. I would love to see Ken Burns do a film on the Napoleonic Era.
