Moldova has been recently also suffering from electricity shortages – apparently they have been rather reliant on Ukrainian supply, which is now suffering under the Russian missile attacks. I haven't met any Moldovians for a long time, but I would presume that the population in general is more pro-Western than pro-Russian, and the recent events haven't probably increased solidarity towards Russia. I doubt that the Moldovan parliament is at the moment on any mood on granting Transdnestria independence. And in the unlikely case that the Transdnestrians received official independence, they might want to think twice before trading it for membership in the Russian Federation. |
