Fascinating.

I always thought it was the Kokoda Trail not Track. But now I see a whole chapter (p55 onwards) devoted to what is quite a controversial topic. Road became Track and the thought seems to be that Trail was then a term introduced by the increasing influence of the US in Australia in later WWII.

Very interesting throughout. Thanks. I missed this when you first posted it.
