Now I see why I didn't find the Olympias or the Averoff. The last day I was in Athens, I saw the Averoff from a boat in the harbor, but by then it was too late to visit. Happy to hear they let you take pictures in the War Museum now--they didn't in 2004. Archaeological and Byzantine Museums were closed that spring while they got them all gussied up for the Olympics.

Fantastic trip report and incredibly informative, I learned a lot. I like the Averov polo, I have the legendary cruiser in 1/3000 scale, would love to see it in person.
