Well…

I told you so!

First I correctly predicted the fall of Warlords Who game. Not very difficult, I wasn't alone.

Then I did suggest, Russell T Davies was an alarming choice to have take control of the show once again.

Well, it appears I was right.

Basically the show now sounds to be becoming a late night SBS (Australia) show. If you know what I mean. Not surprising, as RTD made a show that was a late night SBS show, surprise, suprise. So it now appears Who may have more of that same theme.

So, the new season of who sounds to be as far from a kids show as you can get, as if it wasn't already bad enough.

Maybe SBS can have an 11.30pm-1am slot with both Doctor Who and PlaySchool (that's another whole story for another time, but I think you get the idea).

I really don't see much hope for any minis based on this type of tripe. It's getting that the licence just becomes toxic. The best thing the BBC can do is seperate Who post 96ish. But they won't, they just want to drag the classic through the mud with the modern tat, at least that's what they have done since 2005. Yes, probably evn before that, only not to such extremes.

I do hope everything I have been told is a lie, I really do.

As I understand it, it will be viewed as usual in the UK on the BBC, and in the USA at least on Disney Plus. No idea about anywhere else. I wouldn't have thought scheduling plans in Austrailia are likely to have an impact on the tone and content of the show.
I can't see any indication that the return of Russell T Davies is an alarming development; we haven't seen anything from him yet except a short trailer and that didn't alarm me.
RTD had very definite ideas about tone when he was last in charge. For example you wouldn't see anyone shoot a person directly with a modern type gun within the same camera shot. So I expect he will adopt the same approach, with the show falling in the mid point between Sarah-Jane and Torchwood.Kids will be fine.

I don't follow the SBS term.

I definitely liked the original series better. There was more mystery to who the doctor was. (No pun intended)

I did like Eccleston and most of Tenants Who though.

I understand the confusion. I was perhaps a bit cryptic.

I heard the new doctor will be… Not interested in women, thus unable to produce a child with his chosen partner. Making Susan some type of miracle, I guess.

SBS is an Australian channel famous for late night fringe/alternative adult content. Nothing X rated, but mostly documentarys and dramas (like RTDs previous effort). It seems to be where ultra modern tat Dr Who belongs, not on Auntie (ABC). If it's to be on at all.

I honestly can't see how this type of content ever comes up in Dr Who at all. The BBC really don't learn very easily. Another ratings disaster in the works.

Oddly if my source is correct, it follows a theme like current Silent Witness. A great show in a modern gutter at the moment. They had a disabled Lady on the team for some time. Then she left, fair enough. Then an Asian chap, seemed ok. Ditched him early for a lady of colour and a certain persuasion. I'm not suggesting Peter Capaldi was disabled, but there seems to be a theme going on. I wonder if other shows are following it?

It will be interesting to see if the licence is picked up again any time soon.

TBH, I do not really see the issue as to what station in your area is carrying it. As mentioned above, Dr Who is carried by lots of different stations worldwide, so it is varied. I have not watched SBS in ages, as I have not been to Oz in a longtime, but their programming didn't seem that odd or usual. I just wish that there was less of a time gap between seasons (and/or longer seasons in general).

Frustration…of my own making.

I'm not talking about Dr Who changing channels. Just it changing content, from what I've heard.

I'm suggesting it's more applicable to SBS, not that it's actually moving.

Late night SBS still has more mature content. Dating shows with no clothes, subtitled shows with a host interviewing people about their alternative love lives, tours of adult stores, that type of thing, mostly European. That said, there are multiple SBS channels, this may more Viceland, than SBS 1 these days. There's also Food, Nitv (indigenous), and movies.

I honestly don't watch much late night SBS. Usually catching bits after other shows like the must see Atlanta, which sadly ended recently. If you haven't watched it, I recommend it. Surreal and funny a relaxing joy to watch. The second to last episode was the best of the last 2 seasons I watched.

Apologies for all the confusion.

I should have spent the time on actual research of the info. It will probably turn out that the Doctor goes back to the 50s and takes a wife and they have a couple of kids. He works as a salesman in a furniture store and plays golf on the weekend with the owner. The daughter is into movie stars, the boy…army men, of course (heck, this is TMP). Now theres a show everyone can enjoy.
